Principal's Message

seal
Greetings Families,

I would like to congratulate our 10th and 11th graders for finishing college classes for the semester! They have worked so diligently the past few weeks preparing for final exams. We are proud of their success.

Please be sure to read through this week’s newsletter carefully. It contains important information about who needs to report for EOCs and final exams. We made some slight adjustments to the 10th grade schedule.

Also, a friendly reminder to fill out your parent surveys if you haven’t already! These surveys are a great way for us to show the district just how special CHSI is. Your voice matters, and your feedback helps us grow and shine.

Parent Survey

parent survey
Dear CCS Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Evaluating a school’s learning environment and organization is important for school districts.

Your feedback is one way for us to engage in an ongoing, two-way dialogue, which is a critical step to our district providing the best educational experience for all students.

This year's Parent Engagement Survey is now available on the Engage with CCS webpage and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Cabarrus County Schools is administering the survey and analyzing results. Reports will not identify individuals, and only overall data will be shown. No one in Cabarrus County Schools will know if you participated unless you identify yourself in the open-ended comments. If you have questions about this survey or your confidentiality, please contact Cabarrus County Schools at cabcoschools@cabarrus.k12.nc.us . This survey will close at 11:59 P.M. on May 9, 2025.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your honest feedback. I look forward to sharing the results with you in the coming months.

Stay Well,
John Kopicki, Ed.D.
CCS Superintendent

Panorama Education

CHSI Panorama Results are In!

Your students recently took the 2025 Spring Panorama Survey. This measures students attitutes towards the support they get at school. I have great news!!

  • CHSI was the #1 high school in CCS for Supportive Relationships-our students feel supported by staff.
  • #2 for Positive Feelings.
  • #1 for Sense of Belonging at school with peers and staff.

Thanks for to our staff for supporting our learners! We are so proud! We love our kids!

9th Grade Drug Screening

9th Grade Parents: As you know, before students can attend college courses next year, they must pass a drug screening. This is a mandatory requirement for all Cabarrus College students. Cabarrus County Schools and CHSI will pay for the cost of this screening if you complete it from April 1st - May 31st at Wolfe, Inc. We are sending home a letter that has more information with your student. You must take this letter to Wolfe when you report for your drug screening to get it for free. The hours of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm closed from 12pm-1pm for lunch.

Meningitis Vaccine

Rising Seniors!

In the next few weeks your student will be bringing home a letter stating they will need the 2nd meningitis vaccine that is required by North Carolina law for all seniors. They will need to bring a copy of their immunization record as proof that they have received it by the 30th day of school which will be September 9th, 2025. If your student does not have the vaccine on or before the 30th day of school next fall, school year 2025-26, per NC General Statute 130A-155, they will be excluded from school until the vaccine is received. Please schedule an appointment for your child as soon as you can to ensure your student is able to get this vaccine prior to the deadline. If your student has already received the vaccine, please send in the proof of vaccination and disregard any future messages regarding this requirement. -Nurse Helms

Updates

Final Grades:
Final grades should be posted by all faculty in Sonis by 12:00 PM on Monday, May 5. Students can check their accounts at that time. If, for some reason, all final grades are not posted, please allow an additional 24 hours for them to populate into the system.

Grievances and Appeals
A Cabarrus College of Health Sciences student has the right to grieve and appeal a grade, an academic policy decision, or academic dismissal at the college level at any point in the semester.
A “grievance” is a complaint based on the belief that one has been treated unfairly. If a student has a grievance concerning any grade, academic policy decision, or academic college dismissal, the student must first meet with the instructor or decision maker to discuss the concern. This meeting must occur within 5 business days of notification of the grade, policy decision or academic dismissal.
If unsatisfied with the outcome of the grievance meeting, the student may make an “appeal”, requesting that a person of authority review and possibly amend the prior decision. All academic appeals must be submitted using the Academic Appeal Checklist
If you would like more information on the processes and procedures for academic grievances and appeals, visit the Academic Catalog for more information.
