Drivers Education

The privilege of driving is a milestone event in the lives of most Americans. Remember that this privilege comes with lots of responsibility.

We hope this webpage provides you with answers to commonly asked questions as you embark on this important journey.

  • Yes. There is a $65 fee for the class. This fee must be paid prior to scheduling the in-car phase of instruction. 

    Payment must be made to Cabarrus County Schools, not to CHSI.

    Parents with student accounts can make this payment on the school system website by clicking on this K12PaymentCenter link. You can then click on Category  and continue scrolling down to the Driver Education category to make the $65.00 payment fee. Please list student name and school.

    Parents of students outside the Cabarrus County Schools can also pay using the K12PaymentCenter link but must sign in as a guest. Please include your child's name AND the school they attend in the memo.

  • Students who recieve free or reduced lunch can qualify for a discounted price as long as the steps below are completed.

    1. Download and complete the Free/Reduced Waiver Form.
    2. After completing the form, submit it to Maria Antunez for approval.
    3. Once approval has been confirmed by email, enter Free/Reduced on question 1 of the registration form.

    If a student receives free lunch, the fee is waived after the form has been approved. Currently, the reduced fee is $9.75 for students receiving reduced lunch.

  • ***Updated since COVID-19

    1. Make an appointment with DMV.
    2. Two weeks prior to your appointment, have your child bring the Driver Completion form to Mrs. Brath-Arenas in the front office. Mrs. Brath-Arenas will have the eligibility form ready for pickup within 48 hours. The eligibility form expires after 30 days.  If it expires, the replacement cost is $5.00 and can be paid through the K12 payment center
    3. During the summer, the school is closed on Fridays. Please plan ahead so you have the eligibility form in advance.
