Greetings Families,
We are full steam ahead on 2nd semester. This spring, we are holding several student events. If you have an 11th grader, please see information on the 2025 CHSI Prom. We are so grateful that the other early colleges invited us to join them. Additionally, we have a large cultural event brought to us by the AIMS club, called Holi. Our field trip for 3rd quarter is coming up soon also on February 28th! Have a wonderful week!

High School Dates:
February 17: Stars and Strikes money due
February 26: PTO @ 6pm
February 28: Stars and Strikes Field Trip (11:30-3:00)
March 7: No HS Classes; CCHS still has college classes. CCS will run busses so that our students can attend college classes. Since it is a workday for CCS, no lunch will be served here at CHSI.
March 10-14: Spring Break for all students
March 21: ACT Testing for all 11th graders (state mandated)
- 9th Graders will be remote March 21st.
April 25: Junior Prom (7-11pm)
- Prom will be combined with the other early colleges. More details TBA!

It's time to embrace Holi's vibrant colors, music, and joy, the ultimate celebration of unity, love, and the arrival of spring!
CHSI AIMS invites all students' families and Cabarrus College students to celebrate Holi with us
What is AIMS?
The AIMS club celebrates Asian and Middle Eastern cultures in our school, promoting unity through awareness and inclusivity. We organize events that encourage connection and collaboration among diverse student backgrounds.
What is Holi:
Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, is a day when we let loose, celebrate diversity, and enjoy life's simple pleasures with friends and family. Whether you're dancing to upbeat tunes, smearing colors on each other, or just enjoying delicious sweets, it's all about spreading happiness and good vibes! We will celebrate March 6th @ 5:00-7
What to Expect:
- Color wars with your friends
- Delicious snacks and sweets
- Music, dancing, and laughter filling the air
- It is a time to forgive, forget, and celebrate new beginnings
Important Information:
- Ticket cost $10
- Food will be provided
- The dress code is white
- Colors will be provide
- Families are welcome to join us

The United States Military Academy at West Point is excited to offer two unique opportunities for high school and middle school students to experience the Academy this summer.
Opportunity 1: Summer Leader Experience (SLE) View Flyer
This one-week program is designed for current high school juniors, offering them a unique opportunity to experience life as a Cadet at West Point. The action-packed week will be both challenging and rewarding, with participants taking part in:
- Four hands-on academic workshops selected from 17 different options, taught by West Point faculty.
- Physical and mental challenges, including indoor and outdoor obstacle courses, intramurals, and the Candidate Fitness Assessment.
- Leadership and character development through team challenges, the Leader Reaction Course, and ethics discussions led by West Point Cadets.
Students can choose between two SLE sessions:
- May 31 – June 6
- June 7 – June 13
Applications for SLE open on February 15, and selections will be made on a rolling basis starting March 15. Completing this application also fulfills the first portion of the application to West Point.
West Point provides scholarships to cover the costs of SLE fees and travel expenses for students who have proven financial need.

Summer STEM Workshops
For students in 6th through 9th grade, West Point will host its annual Summer STEM Workshops. During these workshops, students will explore the Academy grounds, experience cadet life, and participate in a variety of hands-on STEM activities. Workshop topics include human physiology, fuel cell cars, propellants, robotics, cantilevers, soldering circuits, fish biodiversity, water chemistry, meteorology, egg drop engineering, data analytics, and more.
The workshops are scheduled as follows:
- June 2–6 for 6th-7th graders
- June 9–13 for 8th-9th graders
Applications for Summer STEM are open now through February 28, 2025.

We are excited to announce the return of the 2025 UNC Charlotte STEAM Innovation Expo as part of the 2025 NC Science Festival! After the success of the 2024 event, where we hosted over 9,000 visitors, we’re gearing up for another amazing celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
Event Details
Date: Sunday, April 27, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: UNC Charlotte Plaza (between Mebane Hall, the College of Health and Human Services Building, Barnhardt Student Activities Center, and Woodward Hall), 8845 Craver Rd, Charlotte NC 28223
Cost: The event is FREE and open to the public
This year’s event promises to be bigger and better, with engaging and interactive STEM learning opportunities for all ages. The UNC Charlotte Center for STEM Education, along with UNC Charlotte’s STEM departments and community partners, will offer hands-on activities, STEM talks, lab tours, nature experiences, exhibits, and performances. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers while providing valuable learning experiences for the public.
We invite faculty, students, staff, student groups, businesses, and community partners to participate as exhibitors and volunteers. Your participation will not only provide your students with unique opportunities for growth but will also help inspire others in the community.

Scholarship Opportunity - Jimmie Johnson
|
- As accomplished as Jimmie Johnson has been on the track, perhaps his greatest legacy will be the charitable influence that he and his wife, Chandra, have had in the community through the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. Mirroring the foundation’s support of public education, Charlotte Motor Speedway established a $48,000 Jimmie Johnson Scholarship Fund to benefit deserving Cabarrus County high school seniors.
