Principal's Message

Greetings Families,

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break and students are rested up for the final stretch.

Our exam schedule is posted below. Please read to find out the in-person testing schedule of your student. Our teachers are busy preparing our students for final exams. It is important that they are in attendance for those reviews and our final exams. Remember, in high school, exams count 25% of your student's final grade for a high school course. College course exam weights depend on the professor. Please have your college student check the professor's syllabus.

In partnership,
Ashley Short

Message from Mrs. Louallen, Early College Liason
Mikahla Hammons Louallen
Parents/Students,
I created an Office Hour Calendar for the Fall semester (see attached). Beginning mid-October, I will have office hours three days a week for all students to meet with me. If students need to meet with me outside my designated office hours, they need to schedule a meeting with me using the link in my email signature. My CCS105 office hours Tuesday-Friday from 2-2:30pm will occur at the college (office 127), but I would like to host my Monday office hours in the DEN if possible.

Schedule a Meeting with me:

EXXAT
IMPORTANT: Exxat Requirements
Juniors
All outstanding, expired, or expiring documents in Exxat must be submitted by Friday, November 29th. Specific requirements include:
  • Meningococcal Vaccine: Due in August.
  • Flu Vaccination: Due on November 1st.
  • Health Insurance Renewal: Required by December 31st.
Failure to meet these deadlines will result in a hold on your account, and you will be unable to attend Spring semester courses until fully compliant in Exxat. Weekly notifications will be sent to students and parents until compliance is achieved.

Sophomores
All Exxat compliance requirements must be submitted and approved by Friday, December 15th. Submitting earlier allows time for review and resubmission if needed before the start of the semester. Incomplete compliance by the deadline will result in a hold on your account, and you will not be permitted to attend Spring semester courses until fully compliant.
For your convenience, the presentation and recording from Tuesday’s Virtual Info Session are below.
Freshman: Forms & Badge Photo Submission
There are still students missing critical forms necessary to set up their college accounts. Without these forms, we cannot create accounts, potentially delaying access to vital academic resources, including the Early College Student Resource Center.
Additionally, 33 students have not submitted their badge photo to Atrium Health. Email invitations for badge photo submissions have been sent to students' K-12 email addresses. If your student hasn’t received the invite, please have them:
  1. Check their spam/junk folder.
  2. Contact me directly at mikahla.louallen@cabarruscollege.edu for assistance.

Upcoming Events & Deadlines at the College:

  1. Student Success Events for Finals Prep Dec. 3-6: guest speaker, therapy dogs, and spa day (more information will be sent via email from the Office of Retention and Student Success Office.)
  2. Final Exams Dec. 9 - 13
  3. End of the Semester: Dec. 15
  4. Grades Due: Dec. 16
  5. Beginning of the Semester: Jan. 13
  6. College Closed: Jan. 20
Spring Workshop Series:

I am currently in the process of planning a spring workshop series primarily for our juniors on three topics: Pathways to Patients (Pre-Health Prep), Polish Your Professional Shine (Resume & Cover Letter) and Next Stop: Your Dream College (Transfer Readiness). I hope to have more details shared with students upon their return from Winter Break.
